What is the Accelerated Reader Program?

| The Accelerated Reader Program promotes student success in reading while providing students with an array of wonderful literature books to read and enjoy. Students are administered a reading assessment tool to determine their book level and provided with a wealth of book titles from which to choose. After students read a book, they are given a computerized evaluation to determine their ability to comprehend the story elements. Students earn points for successfully completing each computerized evaluation exercise and awarded certificates and prizes based upon their accumulated points. The reading assessment tool is given at the beginning of each school year, at mid-year, and at the end of the year to determine each student's growth in reading comprehension.
