Welcome! Ms. Arthur's 7th Grade Language Arts
Welcome to the Copper Team parents and students!
This year in Langauge Arts we will learn many things, and I am excited to begin the year!

A little bit about Ms. Arthur
Ya'ah'teh! Shi'eya Kim Arthur yinishe. As a Navajo it is important to introduce my clans after my name: I am of the Salt People, born for the Tangle People; my maternal grandfather's clan is Bitterwater, and my paternal grandfather's clan is Coyote Pass. Perhaps some of you are familiar with the Navajo clan system, so if you're any of my clans, let me know; we may be related!
Being Navajo, I grew up on the Navajo reservation, in Northeast Arizona. After graduating from Window Rock High School in Fort Defiance, Arizona, I attended the University of Arizona where I decided to major in English and get a minor in American Indian Studies. Once my undergrad years ended, I got my first job at a charter high school that serviced young adults. After two and a half years there, I made my way back to my hometown on the rez to teach high school English one year and eighth grade language arts the next. Last year I taught sixth grade langauge arts, so this year is my first year teaching seventh grade langauge arts. I am thrilled to be at Cross Middle School and look forward to knowing my students.
