Math Their Way
Visit Harcourt Brace website for interactive activities. www.harcourtschool.com Use the password Bennett.(I've been having trouble with this website. Let me know if you have trouble also.)

We are currently working on sorting, positional words, numeral writing. We use this poem when writing our numerals.
Number Poem for writing numerals
1 A line straight down is lots of fun. That's the way you make a one.
2 Around and back on a railroad track. Two! Two! Two!
3 Around the tree, around the tree. That's the way you make a three!
4 Down and across and down once more. That's the way you make a four.
5 Fat old five goes down and around. Put a flag on top and look what you've found.
6 Down to a loop. A six makes a hoop.
7 Across the sky and down from heaven. That's the way you make a seven.
8 Make an S, but do not wait. Climb back up and close the gate.
9 A loop and a line. That's the way you make a nine.
We are currently finishing up our Harcourt Brace chapter on adding and will be starting subtraction next week.
