About Mrs. Parkey
|
I am a graduate of the University of Arizona with a B.A. in Elementary Education. I have endorsements in both ESL (English as a Second Language)and Early Childhood. In May, I will have a M.Ed. in Bilingual/Multicultural Education. I have been teaching Kindergarten at Prince Elementary since 1997. I am married with one daughter, who is in high school. We also have two dogs that are also very much a part of our family. When I am not busy with school I enjoy reading, gardening, sewing and needlework, and working on home improvements.
I am committed to providing a safe learning environment where my students feel loved and accepted for who they are. I will provide my students with an academically challenging curriculum, but will present the information in a learning environment where they are willing to take risks as learners.
My students receive weekly homework packets that are due back at the end of each week. This is a very important part of your child's learning experience and it is important that they complete these packets each week. Research confirms that students who extend their learning at home make more academic progress throuhout the school year.
