| Mrs. Shelton's Curriculum Overview |
 |
SEI Reading Class, Level II |
| Our primary goal in all SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) classes is language acquisition. Our students have a language other than English as their first language. Level II students have acquired a fair amount of English vocabulary and are using the simple present and the simple past tenses. By reading short works of prose and poetry, fiction and non-fiction, students develop skills in reading and speaking. Specific reading strategies that we practice include: activating prior knowledge and background information, using context clues, asking ourselves questions, making predictions, and re-reading. Our choice of reading materials allows students to increase their knowledge of American history and culture. |
SEI Language Arts, Level III |

Our curriculum materials include the High Point Literature Series, Write Source 2000, and various supplemental materials, both prose and poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Our choice of reading materials allows students to increase their knowledge of American culture. |
