| | | How is REACH testing different from other tests given in a school setting? | REACH testing is a test of developed abilities. This is different from the other standardized tests given in school, such as Terra Nova, AIMS, or MAP testing, which are achievement tests. Achievement tests measure the student's ability to perform tasks that have been explicitly taught. REACH testing is ability testing. It measures where a student stands in comparison with others on a test of reasoning ability, in novel situations. |
| | | How Can I Prepare My Child for REACH Testing? | The best preparation for REACH testing is being able to sit still and attend to verbal and written directions. Since the content of the test is novel, it is unnecessary to prepare specific content knowledge.
Make sure your child is well-rested and has eaten breakfast the day of the test. |
