Updates For March, 2010 Include: We have been very busy in our classroom! We are currently finishing up our current unit of study In My Backyard. Your child is currently working on writing a six paragraph research paper all about Bats! This research paper contains a title page, introduction paragraph, four subtopic paragraphs about Bat Characteristics, Megabats, Microbats, Echolocation, a conclusion paragraph, and a bibliography. As you can see, we are indeed quite busy! This is the culminating activity for our research about bats. The children are very proud of their work and accomplishments. I would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every parent volunteer that accompanied us on our past two fieldtrips to Bodyology, The Musical and to the Desert Museum. We had a wonderful time on these trips and they have truly enhanced the learning experience and curriculum for your child. Our next unit of study will begin after Spring Break and is titled Bodyology. During this unit of study, your child will be learning about the Respiratory System, Circulatory System, and the Digestive System. The chldren will also be writing a research paper about these systems in Writing Block. We will be reading different books pertaining to these systems during Guided Reading and Self Selected Reading Blocks. Your child will be learning many new and exciting concepts about their body and how to care for it Our Spring Break will be the week of March 15-19, 2010. No formal Weekly Homework Packet will be assigned during that week. Weekly Homework Packets will resume the week of March 22-26, 2010. Parents, please make sure that you are checking your child's weekly homework packets on a regular basis for neatness, accuracy, and content. This is crucial. Thank you for your support and cooperation in this matter. Report Cards will be sent home on Friday, March 26, 2010. Please take the time to review your child's grades with them.
