Welcome to Ms. Campoy's 7th grade SEI class!
This will be a great year in SEI, as students continue to improve their proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Our goal is to achieve proficiency in these skills, at the 7th grade level, so that students may exit the SEI Program successfully into mainstream classes.

Dear Parents,
This year I have the honor of teaching English and Social Studies to your children in our SEI, Sheltered English Immersion program. The SEI program is specifically designed to help students achieve proficiency in the essential language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Your son or daughter has been placed in SEI classes because s/he is limited in one, or more, of the above skills. S/he will remain in our SEI program until each skill has been brought up to grade-level standards. In order to exit successfully from the SEI program, students must not only understand and speak English fluently, but they must also have proficiency in reading and writing skills.

My goal is to establish a positive partnership with each student in his/her learning process. We begin by setting individual goals for proficiency in each skill. Students also work on developing positive work habits for success, i.e., good attendance; respecting one’s work; being on time, etc. Excellent work habits are a prescription for success, not only for SEI class, but for life.

I invite your partnership in your children’s success in SEI. You can make a difference by making sure your children are practicing English at home and with friends. Please make sure they set aside time to do homework every day. They need to study and review the day’s assignments, vocabulary and spelling. They will also need to practice writing paragraphs in cursive, and they must read a chapter or two of their library fiction book every evening.

Our class motto is "Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars!" This means being focused on their goal and doing the very best they can every day to improve their skills. Thank you so much for your support.

Sincerely,

Ms. Campoy
