Nothing is better for a middle school musician than being exposed to the rich variety of performing organizations we have here in Tucson. It is great when the music is designed for teens and pre-teens and even better when it is performed by them. Here are several local organizations which provide a great chance to motivate your young musician and a couple they can join to supplement their musical education.

The Tucson Junior Strings is a great local organization that all young strings players can join. They have orchestras at all levels of proficiency and it is a great chance to gain additional experience and learn from a well established local organization. Check out their web-site for information and attend one of their performances to see them in action.

The Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra is comprised of many of the finest string students in our area. They have two major concerts each season in Tucson and they travel as well. Check out their web-site and don't miss their next performance.

The Tucson Symphony Orchestra offers a variety of music programs during their season and a great chance to see some of the best musicians in Arizona. Watching the TSO perform is always a great experience. Find a program that your student finds interesting and share the experience with them.

The Phoenix Symphony is a little further to drive but they offer great programs as well. Check out their web-site and see if you find a performance that the family would enjoy seeing.

The Tucson Pops Orchestra celebrates 50 years in Tucson with its 2005 season. The Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Laszlo Veres, plays "Music Under the Stars" at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center in Reid Park during its season in May and June.

The Arizona Jazz Academy offers Concert/Jazz Choir, Jazz Combos, Music Technology and Beginning Band Bootcamp to all ages. Also offered are Middle School and High School Jazz Big Bands and Concert Band/Orchestras. AJA's program starts in September with auditions.
