Mr. Powers' Homework

Nightly Homework
1st Semester This semester your student should be reading every night, Monday through Thursday. I am asking that they read at least ten pages each night. All students should have books, that they have chosen, to read during this time. The students will complete a written response in their classroom reading journal twice a week. This response will be graded. It is very important that the student read, so that they can write in the journal.

Your child and I need your help in achieving this daily reading goal. Please be sure that your student can find a quiet place for about 30 minutes, so that he/she can complete this daily reading. I believe that this daily reading will help your student become a better reader, and over time raise his/her reading level. Research shows that the best way to become a better reader is to read more, and complete some type of written response to the reading.

In addition please check your student's work to complete folder and their daily planner. All assignments that are not completed should be in the folder and listed in the planner. The students have had an opportunity to work on these assignments in class but have not completed them. These assignments need to be completed before the end of each week and should be considered homework.
