A Look at History Through Music
Social Studies Project


Objective:
Students will perform a song of their choosing and present a brief description of the decade that the song came from and the historical significance of the era.

Criteria:
Groups should be no more than three students (four with teacher approval) and everyone in the group must sing

Props are encouraged (costumes, posters, hats, etc.)

Background music is allowed

Descriptions need to include what was happening in society and the impact that the song had on that society (example: A lot of Vietnam War songs were anti-war that gave demonstrators and draft dodgers a voice)

Descriptions must be typed and should be at least one page long (12 font, double space)
