Class Updates and News to Know

Karchner Caverns field trip is on Tuesday, March 23. All students need to wear tennis shoes and bring a sack lunch. (Disposable sack and drink container please.)

AIMS testing is scheduled for the week of April 12.

Parents/Students: One way books are leveled is by lexile, (ability). To find a lexile level (ability level) of a book, go to www.lexile.com. Type the name of your book in the "Quick book search" field to show a listing of titles. Scroll through until you find your listing.

Harelson students' reading lexiles are determined when taking the NWEA Reading MAP test. We take this computerized test in August, January, and May each year. Lexiles are included on student reports and I will share these with the students and their parents after each round of tests.

Make sure your children are choosing novels at their ability level; not too easy or too hard. If you need assistance finding a lexile level or appropriate reading material, e-mail me and I can help you.
