Who is Mrs. Ball, anyway?
I graduated from the University of Arizona with a BA in History in 2003. I started teaching third grade that same year while attending Pima Community College in order to attain my Post Baccalaureate Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education. I have been teaching in the Amphitheater School district since 2005. I did my student teaching and taught first and fourth grade at Painted Sky Elementary in Oro Valley. This is my second year teaching at Keeling and my seocnd year teaching second graders. I am also an endorsed Reading Specialist and early childhood literacy is my passion.

Although I was born and raised in Chicago, my family moved to Tucson in 1996. I live in Oro Valley with my husband James, who works for Pima County as an IT Specialist. We have been married for six years and we have a calico cat named Noobie. I also have three nephews and one niece that I love to drive up to visit in Queen Creek, AZ. My favorite things to do for fun are reading, playing computer and video games with my family, driving to Phoenix with my mother to shop, playing golf and knitting. I am not only a teacher but a learner too, and I am taking lessons to learn to play piano.

Teaching young children to read is my absolute favorite thing to do. I love books, especially children’s literature. Whenever I shop I look for more books for my classroom. Ladybug learners who enter my classroom will have many opportunities to browse through my library and read, read, read. Reading is the most important thing you can do to get ready for college.

This year we will be studying many exciting things! We will start the year with the Six Pillars of Character. During the year we will also learn about China and Japan, the human body, famous people, states of matter, plants and llfe cycles of the desert, multiplication, weather, and much, much more! By the end of the year we will be much more ready for college!

I look forward to a great year!
