7th Grade Humanities Class
Welcome to 7th Grade Humanities Class. The focus in Humanities is to bring in the arts, literature, technology, math, science and geography etc. into the historic time period of the U.S. that they are studying. 7th grade starts with the beginning cultures in the U.S. and continues on through the development of our government, the Civil War and continues on to a brief look at World War I. Students are involved in hands-on, student centered projects and activities throughout the year. The emphasis is on Creative Problem Solving and higher levels of thinking. Students will build the International Space Station starting in January on Fridays.

7th Grade
Students will start with the study of the first American cultures and proceed through history. They will be involved in alot of hands-on, student centered, higher levels of thinking activities and projects. The American Journey Book will come home for students to do homework from. Homework will be expected 2-3 times a week. The homework hotline will have the latest assignments. Students are also expected to summarize 5 Current Events per quarter. A separate folder will be available for their homework, current events and in-class activities. Students will be given opportunities throughout the quarter to use the class newspapers, get on-line to MSNBC or FOX etc. and will be given a format to use in summarizing the news stories that they are interested in the most. Sharing of news stories will be done throughout the week. Students will be involved in many projects that involve research in the library and computer lab time. Fridays is the day designated for speakers, presentations, historic art work and larger project work.
