October's Book Report
We are doing something different this month... a biography! What is a biography? It is a book or report that tells someone’s life story. Your written book report will done DURING CLASSTIME. You will be given time in the computer lab to create a PowerPoint presentation about the person you have chosen. The second portion of this project will be done AT HOME. You will prepare a two-minute oral presentation about your person and come up with a costume he/she would wear. You will dress up as your character on October 31st and present your life story to the class.

What you need to do at home...
PLAN
You are to find information about your chosen person over the October break. Browse though the public library, bookstores and online to find information about your person. For example, www.biography.com , is a great place to start for ideas.

As you are researching your character, take notes about important facts. Then fill out the book report form. This will help you outline your speech. After you have written your speech, practice in front of your siblings, parents, friends, a mirror or even your pets! Don't forget to end your presentation with "Who am I?" so we can all try to guess who you are!

COSTUME
Put together a costume that represents your famous person. There is no need to purchase a costume... be creative! What might they wear or look like? How would they speak?

ORAL PRESENTATION
Now that you are dressed up as your character, make him/her come alive! Pretend that you are the character by speaking in the first person (that means, use "I"). This is your time to be an actor! Share some important facts you found and wrote on your book report form. End with "Who am I?”Example:I was born in.I lived in.I went to college...I am best known for...I am important because...During my life...At the end of my life...Currently, I...Funny or weird facts about me are...
