A Brief Biography of Mrs. Kimminau
|
The 2008-2009 school year brings on my 22nd year of teaching, all of which have been in the Amphitheater School District. I spent my first 14 years teaching at Lulu Walker Elementary School, specializing in fourth and fifth grades. In 2000, I made the decision to pursue my love for teaching mathematics and moved to La Cima Middle School. I have been teaching at La Cima for seven years (6th, 7th and 8th grade mathematics) with a short hiatus in the Career Ladder Department where I was fortunate to work with teachers all across the district. I am very excited about working with the sixth graders for my fourth year and watching their math skills develop over the course of the school year.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Math Endorsement, an SEI Endorsement, a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and my National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics (ages 11-15). I love learning all I can about math and enjoy taking summer courses to improve my skills as a math teacher!
I have been married for 24 years and have two wonderful children, Jacquie (23) and Brian (17). I am a native Tucsonan, growing up on the eastside. I love to play volleyball and softball and go to the movies. My favorite books to read are mysteries, especially Stephen King and Patricia Cornwell. My favorite actor is Johnny Depp, and I especially love the Pirate movies. In fact, I went to a special "Pirates of the Caribbean" event at Disneyland three summers ago. It was a blast!! |
