Information for the Week of 11/24
Happy Thanksgiving
The following is a tentative schedule for this week:

In Math, students will be making glyphs and compiling data from those. They will have a review of the order of operations on Monday as homework. They will also be taking a times test on Tues. and completing their glyphs. On Wed., they will have a decimal review and work on a "turkey" logic problem. There won't be a minute math test this week as it is a short week.

In Spelling, students will be given new spelling rules and work on commas. There won't be a spelling test this week.

In Language Arts, students have Stems 9 test on Monday and their science fiction book reports are due on Monday (I gave them extra time for both of these). Students will also complete their "Happily, Sadly" books this week as a study of cause and effect. If they haven't told you about them, please ask them (they are really cute).

In Reading, students will continue their study of literature components and work on their assigned novels. They will also complete a Pilgrim cause and effect sheet. I am not asking the students to read over the holiday, so there is no reading log. They will be assigned their next book report some time next week.

Students have begun a study of the solar system in science. They are preparing travel logs of the planets and will continue with that this week.

Just a few things:

If you have lunch money to send with your child, please put it in an envelope with your child's name, grade, teacher's name, and labeled "lunch money."

My class has P.E. on Tuesdays, so please remind your children to dress appropriately on that day.

Each student will be provided with an assignment book. Students are expected to complete this assignment book at the end of each day listing all work due, and any miscellaneous information. Please check this book at home each night to ensure that your child is completing the assignment book as well as any assignments that might be due.

Monday folders for my homeroom will be sent home beginning the week of 8/18. The students' graded work will be sent home in this folder. Please initial that you have received the work and the student is to return the folder by Friday of that week. They will receive a Social Studies grade for this folder.

If you need to meet with me regarding your child, please leave me a message at 696-6858 with some days/times you are available. I can generally meet before school at 7:30, after school at 2:30 or during specials Monday-Wednesday from 9:00-9:50. Please do not just pop in as I cannot leave the classroom or stop instruction.

Our policy is to return phone calls/emails within 24 hours. I try my best to return these the same day, but sometimes that is not possible. Email is usually the best way to communicate with me.
