Classroom Rules |
In our classroom we have one major rule that applies to everything that we do. This rule is one word- RESPECT.
We RESPECT ourselves!!!
We RESPECT others!!!
WE RESPECT our school!!!
We RESPECT our community!!! |
Classroom Routines and Requirements |
Students should come prepare for class every day with the following:
1. 2-4 sharpened pencils 2. Homework and assignments 3. Writing paper/notebook
Below are some classroom routines that are used to help run the class smoothly. |
Entering the Classroom |
When students enter the classroom, they are expected to do the following:
Students should enter the classroom without talking, finish all personal conversations outside the classroom. The classroom is for learning and we have much to do.
1. Begin taking out the required materials from their backpacks. 2. Put backpacks and coats on the hooks. 3. Place homework folders/notebooks in the proper homework box. 4. Go back to their seats and take out their DO IT NOW books. They work on that day's brain stretcher. 6. If they finish early, students are to read a book that they have at their desks, this is not the time to go and get a book from anywhere else in the classroom. 7. After a set time, students put away their Do IT NOW books and begin the day's lesson.
As the students go through the above tasks, I prepare for the day's lessons, read parent letters, etc. |
Changing Classrooms |
When students change classrooms, they are expected to:
1. Quickly and quietly clean up their desks and gather their materials. This includes backpacks and coats. 2. Line up in 2 road runner lines. One for each room being transfered to. 3. Walk down the hallway quickly and quietly. Be respectful to other classes. 4. Students will wait outside their next classroom in a straight roadrunner line until given permission to enter the room. 5. Quickly and quietly put away their belongings and prepare to start next class. |
Walking in the Hallway |
1. Students will be in a quiet roadrunner line. 2. Hands will be behind the back or at the side, not in pockets. 3. Students will keep eyes forward and mouths zipped. 4. Students will walk quietly down the center of the hallway unless another class is also in the hallway, then they will walk down the right side.
|
End of the day dismissal |
1. Students copy down their homework and take out what they need to go home. 2. Homework helpers pass out homework folders. 3. Paper Managers pass out homework assignments, pamphlets, etc. 4. Quiet reading time while classroom workers do their jobs. 5. When students line up for dismissal, they must put their chairs and desks back to their original spots so that they are ready for the following day. |
Bathroom and drink procedures |
Drinks in classroom:
1. 16 ounce water bottles are allowed and encouraged-They need to be filled up on your own time. This means before school, at recess, lunch or during passing periods between classes. They must only contain clear water.
2. While we have a drinking fountain in the classroom, it will not be used doing class time to fill water bottles or for getting drinks.
Bathroom breaks:
1. You are to use the bathroom before school, at recess, lunch time and passing periods. Class time is not bathroom time.
2. You are able to go long periods of time at night between bathroom breaks, and that is what is expected here.
3. Using the bathroom during class time will result in loss of other privileges in order to make up the missed work and for disrupting class. This could include: recess, after school detention, loss of reward times.
4. If you have a medical condition that makes using the bathroom more often necessary, your parents must send a doctors note. |
Homework and other assignments |
1. Work is to be turned in completed and on time. No credit will be given for work turned in more than 2 days late. Worked turned in late will result in a lower score.
2. Homework is regularly assigned on a weekly basis, but there will be some daily assignments. Homework should take between 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours to complete each night. Please plan accordingly for this. Soccer practice, dance lessons, religious events, visiting family, shopping, or going to parties are not reasons for not getting homework finished.
3. Homework is used to reinforce what you are learning this year and to refresh what you have learned in the past.
4. Homework will be marked as done or not done in the grade book. It will be looked over for completion but not regularly graded. There will be times that homework is for a grade, but those times will not be announce. You are expected to do all of your homework whether it is for a grade or not.
5. If you have an excused absence (illness, emergency, Dr., death in the family) you will be allowed to make up your missing work. Please understand that much of what we do in the classroom will be hands on, group work and teacher guided. These things are most of the time unable to be made up and you will just be marked as excused absence.
6. If you have an unexcused absence (trip to the mall, vacation, didn't want to come to school), you will not be allowed to make up any missed work and you will lose the points possible and your grade will be effected.
