Welcome to 6th Grade REACH Humanities
This year will be the second year we are able to offer humanities in sixth grade. Humanities is the study of history through art, literature and music. The Arizona State Standards for sixth grade social studies cover world history from the beginnings of civilization through the Age of Enlightenment. This is a fascinating period of time and lends itself to many wonderful, interesting, and fun projects.

The standards are taught in a manner so that gifted students can learn in their own individual way. As a project based class, students construct knowledge through projects that require critical and creative thinking skills. REACH humanities meets everyday. The humanities class is for students identified as gifted in place of the regular social studies class. We will begin the year with a unit on world geography and culture which will lead us into beginning civilizations.
