Welcome to 7th Grade REACH Humanities
In seventh grade, REACH services are delivered through a class called humanities. REACH students come to humanities instead of social studies. The Arizona State standards for seventh grade social studies are taught in a way that helps gifted children learn. There is little emphasis on rote memorization of facts and dates. Students construct knowledge of historical events through relevant projects and assignments.

The Arizona state standards for 7th grade Social Studies cover the Civil War through the Great Depression.
We will begin the year with a unit on the geography of the United States. We will then review what the students learned about culture in 6th grade and do a brief unit on culture which will take us through the first quarter. During the second quarter we will study events that led up to the Civil War and the War itself. The second semester will continue with Reconstruction up through 1945. This is a project based class so some of the activities will include podcasts, current events, power point presentations, and much more.
