I understand that we are all human and thus we all make mistakes, but it is important that students be prepared for class each day. In an effort to keep parents informed of thier child's preparedness, if an assignment is not complete on the due date, the student will need to make a phone call home.
A student will receive a grade deduction of 10% for each day that an assignment is late except for weekly current events.
WEEKLY CURRENT EVENT Homework Policy: Due to the number of late current events last year, NO current events will be accepted past one day late. All current events turned in one day late will be given 50% credit.

Absences
Nurse
Students are responsible for ensuring that all makeup work is obtained, completed, and turned in to the teacher in a timely manner. One day to make up work is given for each day the student is absent. It may be helpful to exchange phone numbers with other REACH students who can fill the student in on what they have missed and be sure to check the homework/events calendar online.

Your Binder is Your Friend
Stay Organized
An organized binder or pocket folder is vital to a student's making the most of this class. All handouts and work completed will be kept in the Humanities section of your binder or folder, including bell-work, notes, on-going project information, homework, activity packets, etc. Unless otherwise stated, all work should be done in pencil (no pens) and all coloring and illustrating should be completed with colored pencils (there are exceptions and we'll discuss the exceptions to this rule as they come up).
This binder teaches organization and improves comprehension of the subject matter. Following directions, staying organized, and keeping up with daily routines will make your learning experience that much easier.

Ways To Stay Informed of Progress:

Stay On Top of Your Assignments
1. Check grades online NEW: The district is implementing a new computer program, TEMS, that will have a parent portal for checking grades. Unfortunately, this is not up and running just yet. We will keep you informed and let you know as soon it is possible to check grades.
2. Check binder for handouts.
3. Email Ms. Moore with questions about progress.

Classroom Discipline Plan
School Rulz
Remember the Golden Rule
Classroom routines and expectations are discussed thoroughly at the beginning of the year and thereafter when needed. I believe in maintaining a positive classroom environment that fosters a safe, comfortable place to learn. Discipline has never been an issue in my classroom and I believe that is because I treat my students with a high degree of respect and expect them to treat others with that same level of respect. If a problem arises, I will speak with the student privately and ask that they think about their behavior. If this is a repeated offense the student will make a phone call home explaining what they have done and the teacher may schedule a parent/teacher/student conference. If the student commits a serious infraction, the student will be given a written referral and sent to the office immediately.
