This is my second year at Ironwood Ridge High School. My family and I moved to Arizona in June 2007 from South Carolina where I taught Math and Drama at the secondary level in a private k-12 school for three years. Although we have also lived in Minnesota and Virginia, I am a native New Yorker. Prior to teaching, I worked for Price waterhouse as a Staff Consultant and for the Mayo Clinic as a Web Programmer. I have also operated my own Business Consulting firm for the last 15 years. My Bachelor's Degree is in Theatre Arts from the State University of New York. I have a Post Baccalaureate Degree in Teaching from Western Governors University.
So where does the mathematics come from you may ask... I love math! The coursework I did in math was because I enjoyed it - not as a requirement. I teach it because I feel there is a need for math classrooms where students can learn to like math and not be afraid of it. I truly believe that everyone can learn math. It just takes patience and sometimes some creativity.
I have a wonderful husband and four children. My oldest son attends IRHS and is a Junior, my second son is in the 8th grade at Wilson, my third son is in the 5th grade at Wilson, and my daughter also attends Wilson and is in the 3rd grade. I am passionate about the theatre and the arts, love The Wizard of Oz, and am a strong supporter of school spirit! Go Nighthawks!! |
