Monthly Reading

HOMEWORK

The most important
homework for first grade is the student
needs to read for at least 15 minutes daily
each month.

Students will bring home a monthly Reading
Sheet to fill out as the reading is done
each day. You may send it back as soon as
the sheet is completed. It MUST be
returned by the first day of the new month.

One parent must sign the completed
Reading Sheet. There will be a total of
nine Reading Sheets starting in August. If
Reading Sheets aren't returned on time,
students lose morning recess until the
sheet is returned.

Parents should be

reading TO their child every night in

addition to this homework.
1st Semester

A Language Arts assignment will be sent home every Thursday.
2nd Semester

A Math assignment will be sent on every Tuesday. A Language Arts assignment will be sent home every Thursday.

Students' assingments are sent in a Homework baggy and folder. Homework of this type must be returned on the next day, unless the student is sick. If the student has a different reason for not returning the homework, a parent is expected to contact Mrs. Pruzin before 10:00 a.m of the day the homework is due. Students who don't return homework lose the morning recess. Late and on time homework is recorded.

All Year

Every child will bring home a Literacy Take Home Bag that contains two or three books and activities to go with the books that are read once a week. The activities are optional. They are meant to be fun for the student. The bags will be sent home each week on Tuesday. The bags must be returned to the classroom no later than Monday of the following week. The reading part of this counts for the Monthly Reading sheet that each child needs to turn in.
