SOCIAL STUDIES
FOSS is the adopted Science series used throughout Copper Creek. FOSS units include: Liquids and Solids,and Rocks and Soil. Additional units are taught: Plants and Astronomy. These units are taught by using supplemental materials. Hands on activities are emphasized. The scientific method is taught throughout the year by participating in many different experiments. Brain Pop Jr. is also used to help teach the concepts. Scholastic News, Brain Pop Jr., books and the internet are used when teaching Social Studies. Students learn about different holiday customs, the national holidays, U.S. symbols and monuments,Native Americans and Pilgrims, Current Events, Arizona, Community helpers, Egypt and map skills.
