Classroom Expectations:
I expect all students to SOAR in the classroom.
Safety:
Always act in a physically safe manner. Follow the
instruction of the teacher during activities and
emergency drills.
Ownership:
Take ownership of your actions and education.
Attitude:
Come to class ready to learn.
Respect:
Promote a climate off understanding and tolerance free from
any form of harassment.
Policies:
Attendance
According to IRHS policy, a student may not miss more than 7 class periods, per
class per semester. If a student accumulates more than seven absences in a
class, the student loses credit for that class. At the end of the semester, the
student may petition an administrator for re-instatement of class credit.
Class work
missed due to unexcused absences cannot be made-up. The student will be
responsible for any homework assigned with no extension of the due date.
Students will be required to make-up any test or quiz given during the next
conference period.
Students missing class due to excused absences will be granted extended due
dates equivalent to the amount of days missed and exempted from any class work
collected. They should make-up tests or quizzes during the next conference
period. Planned homework assignments will be adjusted based on the progress of
the class, therefore students should not expect to receive assignments prior to
a planned absence.
Whether the absence is excused or unexcused, it is the student’s responsibility
to pick-up missed assignments, make-up tests or quizzes, or seek extra
assistance out-side of class time (before school or conference period is the appropriate
time).
Tardiness
A student is tardy if they are not in their seat by the time class has started.
A student is considered absent if they are more than 10 minutes late.
Consequences:
3rd Tardy – Student will write a note to parents explaining why they have been
tardy 3 times and what they will do to correct the problem. (Note is to be
signed by parents and given to teacher)
4th Tardy – Administrative Referral.
Prohibited Items
Cell phones, audio devices, electronic games, or other devices or toys
disruptive to the learning process should not to be visible during class.
Consequences:
1st – Verbal reminder.
2nd – Item is confiscated (Returned to student at end of Class)
3rd –
Administrative Referral
Food, gum or drinks are not allowed in the classroom (with the exception of
closeable sports bottles)
Consequences.
1st and 2nd --
Item is confiscated (Not returned)
3rd –Parent contact.
4th –Administrative Referral.
Academic Integrity
Homework
problem sets
Answers to most of the homework problems will be provided to the students prior
to turning in assignments. It is expected that students use them to check their
understanding. Comparing answers with classmates is also encouraged. Homework
is intended to provide practice and reinforcement of skills, not as an
assessment. Points given for homework will be earned primarily based on
evidence that students worked through the problems and corrected mistakes (show
your work). Homework papers that only contain the “answers” will receive no
credit.
Tests
and Quizzes
Receiving or relaying information about the content or answers to test or quiz
items is cheating. Students caught cheating will receive a zero for the
assessment. Students suspected of cheating may be asked to complete or retake
the assessment during a conference period.
