In conjunction with CHARACTER COUNTS!, we will be implementing new “Cool Points. As many of you know, “Cool Points” are given to students when they are “caught being good.” The “Cool Point” slips have been revised to show the six pillars. Staff members circle the character trait that a student has demonstrated to earn the gold slip.” Our morning announcements now include a character building word of the week, a quote regarding that character and each Monday we will announce the week’s “People of Character” and a short synopsis regarding how this person exemplifies the character trait for the month. We will also give an example of how the students can exemplify the weeks character trait. “Student of the Week” will focuses on students who demonstrate an identified pillar of character. The student of the week will be announced during morning announcements. Staff members will help determine which student(s) will be recognized. Students will be selected based on their exemplary models of the character trait for the week (i.e. Responsibility character traits: Duty, Accountability, Pursuit of Excellence, Self-Control). |
