To Retrieve You Pages From the Server

To download your pages from the server to your computer (assuming that you don't have a copy on a floppy with you), do the following.

Launch WS_FTP (go to the C:/ drive, double click on "Program Files", double click on the "WS_TFP" file and then double click on the WS_FTP95.exe icon.

A window called "Session Properties" should open up automatically. (If it doesn't, click the "connect" button.) In the "Session Properties" window, fill in the following information:

Host Name Address: ftp.amphi.com

User ID: your amphi.screen name (the part before the @ in your email address)

Password: your email password

Make sure that that the "anonymous" check box is unclicked. Then click "OK".

If all has gone well, then you should see a few things appear in the right-hand side of the screen. If nothing appears there, then click "Close" and the "Connect" and repeat the above instructions. If you have been successful, you should see a file in the right-hand box entitled "public_html". Remember that the left-hand box represents the things on the machine in front of you and the right-hand box represents things on the server down at Wetmore. What you want to do in this case, is transfer all the things in your site on the Wetmore server onto the computer in front of you.

To do this, you first need to navigate in the left-hand window to get to the desktop. In the box under the words "Local System" type the following exactly, "C:\Windows\DESKTOP" and then hit Enter.

Now, click on the public_html file in the right hand window and then click the ß arrow located between the windows. When it asks you if you want to transfer the selected folders and their contents, click yes. After it has finished moving things, minimize the WS_FTP window, close all other windows and look at your desk top. There should be a copy of the folder public_html and it should contain all your files.
