The Equal Opportunity Office (EOO) is responsible for monitoring the district's efforts in the areas of equal employment opportunity and equity issues. The department's responsibilities include assisting in identifying adverse impacts in the hiring, transfer, recruitment, training and compensation of district employees. In addition, the department assists in the development of strategies to address district equity objectives for employees and students. These objectives are accomplished through the development of partnerships with community-based organizations and district resources. Employees, students and applicants are encouraged to notify the office if they feel they have been treated unfairly because of their race, color, religion/religious beliefs, gender, age, national origin, sexual orientation, creed, citizenship status, marital status, political beliefs/affiliation, disability, home language, family, social or cultural background. The office will receive and process complaints and provide result-oriented procedures for addressing specific instances of discrimination. The Equal Opportunity Office has also been designated as the department to coordinate the compliance requirements of the Travel Reduction Program on behalf of the Amphitheater Public Schools. Click on Travel Reduction Program for more information. The Equal Opportunity Office also coordinates an annual fund raising campaign which, beginning in the year 2003, will encompass the following three entities: United Way of Tucson, The Amphitheater Foundation and Arizona Schools Tax Credit.
