Travel Reduction Program
Annual Fund Raiser

The Travel Reduction Program (TRP) for the Tucson area was implemented in 1988 to meet the obligations under the federal Clean Air Act. A compliance plan were prepared and submitted by the Pima Association of Governments to the Environmental Protection Agency to meet the federal air quality standards. This is a federally enforceable program to address the challenges of maintaining clean air standards with a mobile society. One of the strategies to meet these standards was a travel reduction program.

The Equal Opportunity Office has been designated the department to coordinate the compliance requirements of the program on behalf of Amphitheater Public Schools. Each year the Equal Opportunity Office works in partnership with Pima Association of Governments to develop an annual Compliance Travel Reduction Program Plan. The plan is to encourage alternative modes of travel that reflects the opportunities and challenges that are inherent and particular to the location and work force of each district site. These plans are used to evaluate compliance with the Travel Reduction Ordinance.

Amphitheater Public Schools has 12 sites that are covered under the ordinance. They are: Amphitheater High School, Canyon Del Oro High School, Ironwood Ridge High School, Coronado K-8, Wilson K-8, Amphitheater Middle School, Cross Middle School, Harelson Elementary, Prince Elementary, Wetmore Center, Facilities Support and the Transportation Department.
