"Serving, Nurturing, and Nourishing Our Children"

The primary responsibility of the Amphitheater Food Service Department is to provide student meals. The primary purpose of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is to make available to school children meals of optimum nutritional value at a minimum cost to the child. This is accomplished by providing a daily meal that meets one third of the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA). 

Districts that choose to take part in the lunch program get cash subsidies and donated commodities from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). 

Meals are reimbursed according to the eligibility of the students participating in the program. 

Public schools, private schools, residential child care institutions, juvenile correctional institutions and boarding schools may participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
