AS WE WORK ON DETERMINING THE MAIN IDEA AND SEQUENCING EVENTS-WE CAN USE FAIRY TALES TO ASSIST THESE SKILLS.

As you read, keep in mind that you will be determining the main idea, the main characters and the sequence in which the events occured.  Have fun.

Read the fairy tale.
Re-read the fairy tale.
How else could the same information have been conveyed?
Are there words or phrases that are unfamiliar to you?
Are there some that are familiar to you?
Compare the way the words are spelled to how we spell them.
Which ways make more sense to you and why?
How would you have done it differently?
Now, what is the main point?  Are there more than one?  How do you know?  Who are the main characters and what are their roles in this story?  Who would you rather be and why?  What qualities does each character possess?  What events take place?  Compare these activities to common activities of today.  Are there similarities?  Are there differences?  Compare and contrast them.
