Fashion in Japan

The streets of Tokyo and Hamamatsu were filled with men and women dressed professionally in business attire. Dress seemed to be more formal than casual. Occasionally, you would see people dressed in traditional kimonos.

Most of the students wore uniforms, however big socks and rolling up the skirts to make them short seemed to be popular.

A popular trend was platform shoes, the taller the better. Another trend is ganguro where the girls wear thick brown foundation that tans the skin, bleach their hair and wear white lip stick.

Clogs and sandals are also worn in Japan. It is popular to wear socks with your sandals.
