Nikko

Nikko is a small mountain town northwest of Tokyo. Nikko
is known for its architecture and religious art. The word Nikko means sunlight. The picture
above on the left is Niten-mon Gate at Rinno-ji Taiyun Temple.

Nikko is known for Tosho-gu Shrine, Futarasan-jinja shrine and the Buddhist temple Rinno-ji.
Oku-no-in, shown above on the left, is the actual burial place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the
first Tokugawa shogun.

At the Yomei-mon Gate at Toshogu Shrine you will see the famous carvings of the
three monkeys expressing "Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, and See No Evil."
