Arthur - a site geared for younger students with large type and information about Arthur. Students can read about their favorite characters, submit art to the gallery and visit the story writing center to get ideas for creating their own stories.

Aesop's Fables Online Collection - a collection of 600 fables and some are read aloud.

Author Guides - a collection of sites with links to authors on the web.

Book Talks - provides over 1,000 short booktalks for library personnel and teachers that includes bibliographical information, interest and reading grade level.

Childrens Literature Activities for the Classroom - provides a large variety of literature activities for the elementary classroom.

Childrens Literature Web Guide - provides Newberry and Caldecott Medal winners, on-line childrens stories, best selling books for children, resources for parents and teachers, and more.

Children's Storybooks Online - provides books to read, riddles, a maze and coloring books.

Common Errors in English - a collection of the most common errors in English. Students can view which cite/site/sight they should use in their document. The site gives numerous examples of common errors in addition to a list of non-errors and a list of the most commonly misspelled words.

Creative Writing Lessons for Teens- a collection of Internet sites with writing ideas for middle and high school students including ideas for technical writing, journals, screen writing and more.

CyberGuides - one of the BEST set of student activities and teachers guides correlated with Internet sites. Supplementary units of instruction are based on core works of literature. The site is divided into activities in K-3, 6-8, and 9-12 and provides student and teacher editions, statement of objectives, tasks and processes, and a rubric for assessment.

Dictionary.com -a collection of dictionary tools including Ask Doctor Dictionary, interactive crossword and word search puzzles, Roget's Thesaurus, Word of the Day, writing resources, grammar, usage, style guide styles, and more.

Dillon's Online Vocabulary -a collection of vocabulary tests designed to increase one's vocabulary through interactive quizzes with definitions and etymologies.

Folk and Fairy Tales from Around the World - a collection of folk and fairy tales usually appearing in large print from Africa, India, Russia, Central Asia, Ireland, Scandinvia, Central Europe, Japan, Scotland, China, Middle East, England, and Siberia. There is also a section with Native American folk stories.

Grammar Handbook- explains and illustrates the basic grammatical rules concerning parts of speech, phrases, clauses, sentences and sentence elements, and common problems of usage.

Guide to Grammar and Writing- provides ideas, activities, examples and quizzes to help with the writing process.

Internet Public Library - provides reference, youth, teen, MOO, exhibit hall, reading room, and more. A good starting point is to go to "Directory and Tour" and learn about the features of this site.

Learning to Read- a clearinghouse of research, lessons, information and resources on reading and language arts.

McREL Language Arts Links- a collection of lesson plans, activities, and curriculum resources which link to corresponding standards from the McREL Standards Database.

Mighty Books- a collection of books that are read to children, including books written by students. Students click on the appropriate age level and are given a series of books to choose from. Teachers can have students participate in a variety of contests.

Poetry for Kids - provides poems for children written by Kenn Nesbitt.

Purdue Writing Lab - provides an on-line information for writers, with resources for planning and writing papers.

Random House for Teachers - provides teacher guides, thematic and interdisciplinary units, reader's companions, biographies of authors and illustrators and more.

Shakespeare Online - provides information about Shakespeare, including his plays, poems, biography, question of the day, plots, glossary, analysis and more.

Suessville - provides on-line information about Dr. Suess, new books, trivia contests, and activities.

Theodore Tugboat - an online activity center for the Canadian TV series about a cheerful tugboat. The site provides an interactive story, an online coloring book and the ability to receive a postcard from Theodore.

University of Arizona Library - provides access to the UA Library with links to SABIO for doing on-line searches.

Visual Thesaurus - uses Java Maplets to illustrate in 3 dimensions the relationships between the words.
