THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR PART 1

In 1754, Washington, who was sent to protect Ohio River Valley and build a fort there, was a young commander in the army. When he arrived at the Ohio River Valley, the French were already there building a fort. In fact, a string of forts. The area Washington was supposed to build his fort, the French already built a fort there called, Fort Duquesne. Nearby this fort, Washington built a fort called Fort Necessity. Later that month, the Virginians attacked the French. Washington didn't like that. He got in the fight to because he is a Virginian too. He fought and fought and fought some more. He totally lost. This was the start of the French and Indian war. The French and Indian war later caused the American Revolution because King George the 3rd taxed the Americans to pay for this war.

THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR PART 2

General Braddock led 1,400 men to Fort Duquesne. George Washington was his aid. Their soldiers wore bright red uniforms. Braddock was warned by Washington that this may be dangerous because Indians could easily spot them and kill them. On July 9 1755, General Braddock came within 10 miles of Fort Duquesne. Then bullets came from everywhere and started to kill his men. As a result to this matter, Braddock and his troops were forced to retreat. Braddock was wounded and died four days later.

THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR ENDS

During the war, France was going sour for the British. That means that the French were losing. The British Colonial assembles were very, very, very slow to decide what to do with the money they earned off the taxes. The assembles of the British wanted the Americans to pay the money for the war supplies like cannons, bows and arrows, guns, and maybe even some horses. Finally, the government of Britain promised to repay the colonies the war expenses. In 1759 the war totally turned into British favor. In fact, they were so on a roll that a large group of British men attacked CANADA! A month later Quebec fell and Montreal was captured by the British a year after Quebec. Well the British won the French and Indian War. The French and Indian War ended in 1763. The British claimed all of New France, Louisiana, and all land east of the Mississippi River. Spain claimed all of New France west of the Mississippi River. Another name for the French and Indian War is the Seven Years War. What a fabulous ending. Thank you.
