Valley Forge

In 1777 the British took over Philadelphia. George Washington moved his army during the winter to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. His army lacked clothes, shoes, and blankets. Washington begged the Congress for shoes, blankets, and clothes. But Congress did nothing. But Washington held his army together even through the hard times. However there were some bad parts of Valley Forge. 2,000 men died from the cold weather and even more men quit the army. Washington's determination to stick it out inspired the rest of the army.
