Lifeboat Status
- If a problem arises and a student can't maintain the responsibilities of their level, the staff can make the decision to place that student on Lifeboat.
- While on Lifeboat a student has restricted responsibilities and privileges. The student must meet with his/her advocate and get their approval to petition to get off Lifeboat.
- The student is responsible for developing a written problem solving plan with his/her advocate, which demonstrates understanding of why Lifeboat status was given, and a plan to regain their previous level.
- The student will need a majority approval from the staff on the Lifeboat petition to return to their normal level.
- Students with Lifeboat Status will not be allowed to participate in program outings unless cleared through the student's advocate.

Petitioning for a Level Move
- Student first talks with advocate to discuss whether this is an appropriate time to try petitioning.
- If advocate agrees, the student is given the appropriate level petition form to fill out. When all forms are completed, they are taken back to the case manager who reviews the feedback with the student.
- Peer feedback is the next step. Wednesdays during "check-in" is the opportunity for a petitioning student to meet with each "check-in" group to obtain feedback only. Students do not vote on petitioning requests.
- During weekly case review, staff votes on the student's petition.
