Title of Lesson: How do I take
care of my teeth?

Students will be asked to state, in writing,
the many different methods for keeping their teeth healthy and clean, as
well as the reasons why it is important to do so. In addition, students
will create a poster promoting healthy teeth.
Technological Objectives:

Students will practice moving within Ms. Schiffman’s
homepage and get to the appropriate site.

Students will practice moving from screen to
screen within the Trackstar site.

Students will practice scrolling down and across
using the scroll bar.

Students will correctly use the terminology
when referring to different parts of the computer, screen, disk drive,
mouse as well as within the Windows program itself (i.e., scroll bar, back
button, home button, menu bar, etc..)
Pre-requisite technology skills

Students will know how to press the space bar
to activate the computer.

Students will know how to get to Ms. Schiffman’s
First Grade homepage.

down and across bar, back button, and know how to exit a program.

a close look at our teeth. On the left hand side is a picture of children's
teeth. On the right hand side is a picture of an adult's teeth. How are
they different? How are they the same? How many teeth do you have as a
child? How many teeth do you have as an adult? Students will buddy buzz
and discuss the questions with their partners.

and say the following: Wow! This is what the inside of a tooth looks like.
Hmm. Why do our teeth have the white covering on it? The left side of the
tooth is the healthy side and the right side is the unhealthy side of the
tooth. How does the enamel protect the inside of the tooth? How can we
protect the enamel of our teeth? How can we protect the our gum line and
the roots of our teeth? What do we need to do? Students will buddy buzz
and discuss the questions with their partners.

and say the following: What do you know about your teeth? How many do you
have in your mouth? Are there different kinds of teeth? Do young children
and adults have the same teeth? Let's watch the movie to find out more
information. Students will buddy buzz and discuss the questions with their
partners.

and ask the following: Which snacks should you eat to keep your teeth healthy?
Click on the foods that are good for you and help your teeth. Students

Eat only the healthy foods so you can gain points. Don't forget to stop

that they should eat with their partners. Then they will be able to play
the game.

and say the following: Let's learn some songs to help you remember to brush,
floss and take care of your teeth daily. Students will be able to enter
through the "guest" entry button, play different games and sing some songs.

to exit the Internet.

In the classroom, teacher will
lead a discussion on the many different methods of keeping your teeth clean
and healthy and the reasons why it is important to do so. After the
brainstorming and buddy buzzing activity, teacher will direct the students
to state their thought in writing using complete sentences. Students
will have an opportunity to create a poster to promote healthy teeth.
