Procedures

First Session (In the classroom)

Teacher will demonstrate how to use the computer using the Averkey and the computer in the classroom.

Second Session (Computer Lab)
  • Teacher will review the rules of the lab with the students before going to computer class.
  • Teacher will direct students to access Ms. Schiffman’s First Grade homepage.

  • Teacher will direct students to the table on the Ms. Schiffman’s index page. Teacher will direct students to click on the third section of the table. Students will double click in order to access the page.
  • Teacher will discuss with students the expectations, review the skills discussed in the classroom, and what they should learn while accessing this page.
  • Teacher will direct the students to go sequentially through the page, exploring each link. Teacher will say the following: Let's Explore Ms. Schiffman's First Grade Webpage and the Internet together! Are you ready? Get set... Let's begin! (Click on the sunflower buttons to explore all the sites... and remember to always hit the back button to come back to this page...)

        Are they discussing with their partner facts learned in class and at the current site?
    Students will be observed to see how well they work with each other.
        Are they able to help each other out in turning on/off the computer?
        Are they able to communicate the directions to each other?
        Can they solve the problems together?
    Students will demonstrate their ability to:
        Access the different sites on the webpage.
        Use the mouse.
        Use the scroll down and across bar.
        Use the back button.
        Know how to exit the Internet program.
