Brief Description
Students will choose their
best artwork from three different pieces they created. If the chosen
work is 2D, the student will scan their work. If the chosen work
is 3D, the student will take a digital picture of the work. Students
will create a page for the Painted Sky 2 and 3D Photo Album. All
student pages will then be uploaded to the Painted Sky Art Photo Album.

Objectives
Academic

Students will self-critique three
pieces of their artwork produced during one semester, and then choose the
one piece that represents their best artistic endeavor using the artwork
analysis rubric.
Technological

Using a drawing/publishing program,
students will design an album page that focuses on presenting their digitized
artwork, using the multimedia rubric.
Pre-Requisite Technology Skills
-
Students need to use a scanner
or digital camera. They also need to be able to save their work to
the server in the correct format (jpg or gif), as well as be familiar with
a publishing program. Students should be able to use a file transfer
protocol program with teacher intervention.

Accommodations for Special
Needs
Gifted students will be paired
with students that are having difficulty critiquing their artwork.
They will give advice on what piece of artwork represents the best work
of the student utilizing the student rubric. The gifted students
will also be placed in charge of monitoring the work being saved to the
server. SEI students will be paired with students that are comfortable
with the critiquing process as well as familiar with the technology skills
required. Special education students will be required to choose from
two pieces of artwork from the semester. They will also be paired
with a student that is comfortable with the technology requirements.
Procedures
-
Students will pair up, if necessary,
and then place their artwork in an area where they have full view of all
pieces.

Teacher will then give the students
the worksheet for critiquing their work.

Students will choose the piece
that fulfills the most requirements from the critique worksheet.

Students will scan their work
if 2D, and save as a jpg or gif on the school server.

Students will take a digital picture
of their work if 3D, save as a jpg or gif on the school server.

Students will open MS Publisher.
-
Students will choose one of the
Quick Publications templates.

Students will choose a layout
template.

Right click on the template picture.

Scroll down to change picture
option.

Select choose from file
-
Open picture saved on server (use
arrow next to Look In window).

Select picture and click on insert.

Add title of student work in heading
box.

Add information on student artist
in text box below heading.

Go to file, Save As and scroll
down to web page option.

Name the file lastname.htm and
save to the server.

With teacher assistance, students
will upload their htm file using a file transfer protocol program and place
them on the Painted Sky Photo Album, located on the Art web page.

Assessment
Students will use
the Art Critique Rubric to assess their work. Art pieces must score
between 12 and 16 before being used for the on-line Art Album. Go
to the following URL: http://rubistar.4teachers.org/
, then enter the number 514401 in the box asking for the saved rubric ID
number. Click on the view option to view the rubric, or the edit
option to make changes to the rubric.
Students will use the Multimedia
Rubric to assess their created album page. Students must score between
12 and 16 points before they will be allowed access to the file transfer
