Brief Description

This activity helps students evaluate the Internet. They take a pre- and post- test to see how much they know and learn from the lesson. The students produce an article about an obscure town that contains facts and believable fiction. Peers will try to determine which parts of the article are fictions. Meets Arizona State Technology Standard 2.

Reach/gifted students: These students can use their knowledge and creativity in the article.

SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) students: Teacher will read through the handout and explain the pre- and post tests for all students at the beginning of the lesson. These students could be paired with another student or be asked to write less. Directions could be put on tape for the student to listen to.

Special Education Students:  Teacher will read through the handout and explain the pre- and post tests for all students at the beginning of the lesson. These students can sit next to or be grouped with strong readers. They can dictate their article for some one else to type. Directions could be put on tape for the student to listen to.
