Brief Description
Students will use the White
House website to use primary source photographs to compare and contrast
past and present photos of life in the White House. This meets Arizona
Technology and Social Studies Standards.

Using primary source materials,
students will navigate through the website “Life in the White House- Spotty’s
Today and Yesterday Album” and answer the posted questions with 100% accuracy.
The students will also compare and contrast the two photos given.

(a TV converter connecting the computer to a television monitor in the
classroom)

Accommodations for Special Needs
Students with special needs
will be accommodated by the following ways:
SEI (Sheltered-English Immersion)
students will have a class buddy to work with. SEI students may use picture
clues for their questions.
Students with an IEP (Individualized
Education Plan) will be given additional work time with in the computer
lab.
Gifted students will
be allowed to view Spotty’s White House Tour as well as Barney’s White
House ABC’s. They may also record any interesting facts found to share
with the class.
Procedures

This lesson can be completed in
one 45 minute time frame. In the Computer Lab (or other location where
there is Internet access for each student,) have the students access
the website http://www.whitehouse.gov/kids/whlife/index.html.
The address can be copied and passed out to each student to verify accuracy.
This activity will work with students working in pairs or individually.
