Students will need to know basic technology skills such as how to open a Word document, enter information, save and print.
Students will also need to know how to use Netscape to navigate the Internet by using both bookmarks and links to different
sites.

Materials
Computers with access to Netscape and Microsoft Word
Worksheet

Accommodations for Special Needs
Students with special needs will be assessed on work completed and will not be expected to complete the entire worksheet.

Procedures
Students will be asked to open the Word document titled "Evaluating Online Encyclopedias" which will be on their workstations in the lab.
Students will open Netscape on their workstations.
Teacher will remind students about the use of bookmarks and will identify the bookmarks that will be used during this lesson.
Teacher will explain to students that they will be looking at three different online encyclopedias and that their job is to search for information at these sites, write down relevant facts and answer questions about their likes and dislikes about each site.
Students will complete worksheet and then write a short evaluation about these online encyclopedias rating their ease of use in finding appropriate and useful information relevant to their topics.

Assessment
Students will print their worksheets. Performance on worksheet will be evaluated as well as the final task of writing web sites evaluations
