Brief Description

Students will be researching their chosen animal on the Internet.  They will be making a web via Kidspiration of the information found.  Third, they will type out their final draft.  Lastly, they will decide how they want to present their animal research to their peers.

They will have learned how to type.
They will have learned how to use Kidspiration
They will have learned how to use other programs in making of their presentation.

Materials

Internet site with all the sites that they can go
Information sheet explaining procedure, guidelines, and grading expectation
Lined papers and pencils to write down their information

Accommodations for Special Needs

Remedial students will be partnered with another student so that they can be successful.
Students who are researching the same animal may get together only for the presentation.

Procedures

    Teacher will motivate the students to want to learn about animals by discussing the following:
        What are some of the ways that you have learned about animals?
                   (movies, books, animal shows, zoos, etc.)
               What do you feel is the best way to learn about animals?
               I want you to list and prioritize animals you would like to research.
               Tell the person next to your decision and why.


    2.   Teacher will pass out the info sheet about the animal project and discuss the following:

      procedure
      guidelines
      grading expectation


    3. Teacher will introduce the website used for the animal research and show the students around this site.

        Students will be given the amount of time to complete their Internet research.


    4. Teacher will demonstrate how to make a web on Kidspiration or on another type of program by creating an example.

      Students will be given the amount of time needed to complete their Kidspiration web.


    5. Students can print out their web so that they can use it to type their research   Teacher can demonstrate how the web can be used as a tool for writing.

    6. Students will be given the amount of time needed to complete their presentation.  They will need to refer to the info sheet for guidelines and expectations.

    7. Students making up the audience will be required to write down 2 facts that they found interesting about the animal presented.  This is to demonstrate listening skills.
