Brief Description

Students will be learning about responsibilities of using the Internet.  By the end of the lesson they will be able to teach their parents during Net Buddy Afternoon on Internet safety.

Technological Pre-Requisite Technology Skills

They will have learned how to find appropriate sites.
They will have learned how to make a PowerPoint.
They will have learned how to use PowerPoint.

Materials

Averkey so that we can go over the sites together and also make the presentation

Procedures

    1. Teacher will begin a brainstorming activity with the students about the usage of the Internet.
      a) Gathering information for assignments
      b) Finding games to play
      c) Learning about topic of interest
      d) Download needed programs items


    2. Discussion will turn from what the Internet offers to what could happen if one is not responsible (based on the site that teacher has on the Averkey).

       3.  Students will come up with things not to do and to do when on the Internet
         (based on the site that teacher has on the Averkey).

    4.  Students will finalize what information should be included on the presentation.

    5. Students will take turns creating the class PowerPoint on Internet Safety while getting input from the rest of the class.

    6. Teacher will demonstrate how the presentation should be presented for parents.  Then have students take turns embellishing on the information given.
