Brief Description

Students will be learning about the three kinds of rocks.  By the end of the lesson they will be able to discuss the difference between each kind of rocks and also be able to give examples of each.

Academic

• Students will use their prior knowledge on rocks to follow along on Rock Hound and during the completion of the Rock Quiz.

• Students will gather information via Internet (http://www.fi.edu/fellows/payton/rocks/create/index.html)
• Students will complete their Rock Quiz on Funbrain (http://www.funbrain.com/quiz/index.html)

• They will have learned how to find appropriate sites.
• They will have learned how to use the mouse and cursor to complete the test.

1. Teacher will begin a review discussion about classification, formation, and samples of rocks.
2. Teacher will explain the expectation of reading the Rock Hound site as well as the completing of the Fun Brain Quiz on rocks.
3. Students will complete the quiz at their own pace while searching for the answers on Rock Hound site.
4. Students will be allowed to browse through other rock sites until everyone has completed the quiz.
