Brief Description
Our principal, Mike McCrory,
is retiring after eight years at Holaway. Holaway students love and
admire Mr. McCrory and want to thank him, say goodbye, and good luck in
the future. This lesson can serve as a model for any communication
of appreciation to someone you respect. It can be used for an end of year
project for a teacher, student teacher or a beloved principal like Mr.
Mike McCrory.

with text, and/or using the digital camera and scanner.

programs such as Word, Kid Pix, and Student Writing Center.

Accommodations for Special Needs
Work in small groups of 3-4
students, pairing up special ed., and SEI students with better writers/technology
user to help with the project.
Procedures

Give the students the problem
of coming up with a way to show their appreciation for a special person.
It must be a meaningful remembrance of a past kindness, overall impression,
or a lesson learned.

Give students a copy of the
guidelines to follow. They may do their project individually or as
a small group of two to four.

After the students compose the
expression of appreciation, they must decide how to convey their message
using technology.
Assessment
Students will be assessed on
the finished product received by the special person.
