Procedures
Day One
The Criteria:
Your final piece must include:
Scanned images (photos or
illustrations brought from home)
Digital images
Text: Images used must be
explained through text (titles) so your audience will understand their
significance.
Effects (transitions)
Sound (music and/or narration).
Your final piece will be 2.5-4
minutes in length.
If you wish to take home a
copy of your final project, you must provide your own videotape.
The Guidelines:
Your final product will be
a video of still images collected from scanned images and digital photos.
The images you scan will come from photos or illustrations you bring from
home. The digital photos will be taken at school. For the digital photos,
you can take pictures of people or places here at school, or you
may bring small objects from home to photograph.
You will have 3 days to work on this project.
You will be assigned "camera
time" on day 2 to use the digital camera, so have your matierals ready
at your assigned time.
Provide a Model:
The teacher should create
a project prior to this so it can be shown to the students.
Hardware/Software Demonstration/Overview:
(Students have used these
technologies before--they have just not used them combined together.)
Demonstrate use of Scanner.
Demonstrate use of Digital
Camera.
Demonstrate use of Avid
Cinema: importing and manipulating images; adding effects; adding sound.
Project Planning:
Students will complete the
Project Planning worksheet (attached).
Remind students to bring images
and objects for photographing the next day.
Day Two:
Day Three:
Day Four:
Self-assessment reflection
questions:
How does my project help my
audience understand who I am?
In what ways did technology
make this project easier/better than more traditional methods?
If I were to do this exact
project over again, what would I do differently (what mistakes, if any,
would I correct?)
How might I be able to use
the technology tools (scanner, digital camera, editing software) from this
project in the future?
Peer assessment:
(Students will each assess
4 peers in the class as the projects are being presented).
What did you learn about this
person that you did not already know?
What did you think was most
effective (technically) about this student's project?
What suggestions do you have
for improvement?
