Arthur, the Once and Future King: A Study in the Humanities
Students choose a character from the Arthurian legend.  They then use the Internet, along with traditional sources, to find information on this person. Students use the information they gather  to create multimedia (PowerPoint) presentations for the class.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 1, 3, 4, and 5.

Do I Eat Right
An Amphi Ed Tech Lesson
This launch page is designed to use with ESL level II or level III students as a part of their research paper requirement. Teachers can print out a copy of the launch page for students to use as they do their guided research project. Each topic guides students to the relevant material to respond to their focus questions and to the related topics on the Internet. Students work independently at first choosing an eating disorder, put the information together in small groups and present it as a collaborative project. Meets Arizona Technology Standard 5. 

Eyes on Puerto Rico (Spanish)
An Amphi Ed Tech Lesson
Using the library print resources and the Internet resources students will research and write a report in Spanish about a person, event or economic product important to the history and development of Puerto Rico.  Using this report as a basic resource, students will create a PowerPoint presentation highlighting and summarizing the importance of a particular person, event or economic product important to the history and development of Puerto Rico.  These PowerPoint presentations will be published on the teacher’s web page.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 3 and 4.

Fact or Fiction?
An Amphi Ed Tech Lesson
This activity helps students evaluate the Internet. They take a pre- and post- test to see how much they know and learn from the lesson. The students produce an article about an obscure town that contains facts and believable fiction. Peers will try to determine which parts of the article are fictions. Meets Arizona State Technology Standard 2.

Getting to Know Poe
Using the Internet, students will explore various web sites to gather biographical information on Edgar Allan Poe and note the influences of his life on his work as well as his influence on other writers.  Students will read "The Fall of the House of Usher" on-line analyzing it for relevant connections to the author's life . Finally, students will visit a privately maintained site that exhibits the wide popularity of Poe today and lists new events in tribute to the author.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 1, 3,and 5.

Interactive Memories/ Yearbook
Students use digital cameras and presentation software to practice writing and organizational skills while creating an interactive memory presentation of the school year.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 1 and 3.

Interactive Sports Guide
Students create an interactive sports guide by doing research on the Internet and using presentation software. Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 1, 3 and 4.

Internet Safety
An Amphi TLCF Lesson
Students will take a pre and post quiz on Internet safety. After discussion through a Power Point presentation, the class will come up with a workable contract for using the computer and Internet safely. Meets Arizona State Technology Standard 2. 

Inventors and Inventions
Students use the Internet with given web sites to research a specific invention.  Students then write and MLA style paper of their findings.    Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 1 and 5.

Poetry Multimedia Project
Students work in groups to choose a poem and identify its universal theme.  Then the group presents a twenty-minute PowerPoint presentation along with two other forms of media.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 1, 3, 4, and 5.

Primary Source for Information Retrieval and Comparison (Spanish)
An Amphi Ed Tech Lesson
Using the Web de Anza Internet site students will find and retrieve information in an 18th century Spanish diary written by a Spanish conquistador, Miguel Costansó. They will identify 18th century linguistic items in Spanish and compare these linguistic items to modern day Spanish items.  Reading the diary the students will analyze the cultural attitudes of both the conquistadors and the native peoples and they will express their opinions about those attitudes basing them on supporting evidence from the diary.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 3 and 5.

Shakespeare via the Internet
Students become more acquainted with the computer by finding information about Shakespeare on the web, typing their play, e-mailing ideas to group members, creating a presentation on the web, and finally creating a class web site.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 1, 3, 4 and 5.

Taking a Stand: Finding the Courage to Do What's Right
Students explore issues of prejudice and intolerance after reading The Cay or Number the Stars and exploring the Holocaust and current examples of intolerance via the Web.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 1.

Venezuela's Oil and Political Crises (Spanish)
An Amphi Ed Tech Lesson
Using Venezuelan and Latin American newspapers this lesson will offer the students the opportunity to look at the current political crisis in Venezuela from more than one point of view.  Students will read articles from Venezuelan newspapers to get a “local” perspective and they will then read articles from other Latin American newspapers to compare the information and the points of view.  Students will then be asked to form an opinion as to what is happening and why.  They will also then be asked to predict an outcome.  Gifted students will be asked to craft a possible resolution of the crisis.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standards 3 and 5.

Viaje por Centroamérica y Suramérica (Spanish)
An Amphi Ed Tech Lesson
Students will choose a topic from a teacher created list of topics specific to each Spanish-speaking country of Central and South America.   Students will then research these topics and create a PowerPoint presentation in Spanish to present and summarize the information they found.  The teacher will then post their presentations on a web page entitled Viaje por Centroamérica y Suramérica.The teacher will create this web page using Netscape Composer, Front Page or any other web page making software available.
The teacher will invite other teachers in the district/region to send their student work to be posted on this page.  Meets Arizona State Technology Standard 3.
