Quick and Easy Photo Displays
By Debbie Anthony

Here is a quick and easy way to display those class pictures that you have taken.

  1. Download your pictures from your digital camera into a folder on your desktop.  Let’s call that folder Photos
  2. Open PowerPoint XP or PowerPoint 2003.
  3. Click Insert --> Picture --> New Photo Album.
  4. In the Photo Album screen, click the File/Disk button.
  5. Click on the Browse button to select your Photos folder that you created on your desktop.
  6. Select the files that you want to include:
    • Ctrl A will select all photos (Hold down the Ctrl key while you press the A key).
    • Ctrl click will let you select multiple photos without selecting all.  Just make sure that you keep the Ctrl key pressed while you click on each image.
  7. Click the Insert button.
  8. Choose whether to include a text box (you will edit the text later).
  9. Choose the layout of the pictures (number of pictures per slide, title).
  10. Click the Create button.
  11. Edit the individual slides as desired (optional).
  12. Save your presentation.

Start your presentation by running the slideshow from within PowerPoint XP or 2003.

Display Pictures as Your Screen Saver
Now that you have your pictures in a separate folder, you can also use these pictures as a screen saver that will automatically play after your computer has been inactive for a preset period of time.

  1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop where there are not any words or icons.
  2. Left-click on Properties.
  3. Click on the Screen Saver tab.
  4. Under the words Screen Saver, click the drop-down arrow to select My Pictures Slideshow.
  5. Click the Settings button.
  6. Click the Browse button next to the box that says Use pictures in this folder:
  7. Navigate to the folder that contains the pictures that you want to use (our example stored pictures in the Photos folder on the desktop).
  8. Adjust the other settings to your preference.
  9. Click OK.
  10. You are now back at the Screen Saver tab.
  11. You can select the amount of inactive time before the screen saver begins by changing the minutes.
  12. Click OK.

Your screen saver will now display those pictures in a slideshow on your computer.
